Battery disposal
Information on the disposal of used batteries
The following information is directed at those who use batteries or products with built-in batteries and do not resell them in the form in which they were supplied (end users):
1. Free take-back of used batteries
Batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. You are legally obligated to return used batteries to ensure proper disposal. You can return used batteries to a municipal collection point or to a local retailer. As a distributor of batteries, we are also obligated to take back used batteries. However, our obligation to take back used batteries is limited to those types of batteries that we currently sell or have previously sold as new batteries. You can therefore either return used batteries of the aforementioned type to us with sufficient postage or drop them off free of charge at our warehouse at the address listed in the legal notice.
2. Meaning of the battery symbols
Batteries are marked with the symbol of a crossed-out trash can (su). This symbol indicates that batteries must not be disposed of in household waste. For batteries containing more than 0.0005% mercury, more than 0.002% cadmium, or more than 0.004% lead by mass, the chemical symbol of the respective pollutant is shown below the trash can symbol – "Cd" for cadmium, "Pb" for lead, and "Hg" for mercury.
